The tower of San Macario stands on the islet with the same name situated in front of the cape of Punta di Santa Vittoria di Pula. Built as well by the Spaniards at the end of the 16th century to counter the raids of the Saracen pirates, it is not the only building on the tiny island: you can also find the remains there of the Byzantine monastery dedicated to San Macario, those of a chapel and the ruins of an antique tuna fishery structure.
